Guan Yu Mural

Guan Yu Opera Mask Mural
If you like wallpaper but worry that it gets too repetitive, you can always blend your favorite wallpaper with a feature wall in the middle.

After all the inspirations from Guang Zhou,
I have decided to come out with an abstract chinese opera mural-Guan Yu-
The reason I picked Guan Yu is because He is a symbol of righteousness and
some people believe that image or statue of him offers protections when facing challenges.

If you like Chinese culture type of interior design. I would say :" Pick a room/hall or corner of your house and go all the way!" GO ahead and live in style or as dramatic as you want. God created the world with so many colors and different types of flora and fauna for a reason. :) Add some colors to your life can be fun!

About the mural :
In Olden Chinese culture interior, many things are arrange in pairs evenly. It's all about being balance and centerize. Like how a human body is designed, everything comes in pairs like arms and legs and for things that is single, will always be place in the middle, like nose and mouth. It is believed that this is how our "chi" would flow smoothly. So, same goes with the house. That is why I designed this mural in the middle, balance and everything in pairs. :D

  1. The ancient teachings told us a lot lessons of balance, Ying Yang etc because many believed everything always come with reason, karma, never too much and never too less, always just nice.

Even the ancient emperors also called themselves as "ninety five of extreme" which mean they are greater than many but not the greatest as ninety nine that will lead them to doom because of too extreme.

A repetitive wall may looks nice most of the time but it is too repetitive and too complicated however your design by putting feature in the middle made things not only looks different and but also nice ;)

Do you ever think of design the traditional "men shen" that used to stick on the front door as guardian of the house? Or paint it on the both side of the wall that next to the front door.

  2. Thank you very much for sharing the information Daymen.Interesting! I learned something new today :)

Regarding the "Men Shen", I did receive a request for that before. But I turned it down because there's too many colors and he request it to be exactly as the traditional ones.not much room for me to modify and express .So i suggest to him to get it printed instead.Hmm..but I might try creating a new version of "men Shen" when I can think of one..Maybe in Grey, black adn white and a bit of red.For modern homes maybe.
